CD MAN OF THE YEAR 2025
Authored by CD Magazine
SHEVON SALMON
Shevon Salmon is a Jamaican-born, Toronto-based content creator whose work in tech and lifestyle has built a strong and loyal audience. Since moving to Canada in 2016, he has developed a platform known for authenticity, clarity, and consistency. This year, CD Magazine recognizes him as CD Man of the Year for his creative impact, community connection, personal integrity, and continuous growth. His recent milestone hitting 500k subscribers on YouTube marks an important moment in his journey.

How He Started
Shevon began YouTube without expecting anything from it. It was something he enjoyed doing and a way to express himself.
"I initially started YouTube as a creative outlet to share vlogs and videos I was making in my spare time. It was really just a personal project at first. But then I posted an Apple Watch review that unexpectedly gained thousands of views, and I realized there was a real audience for tech content. That moment shifted everything for me. I saw the potential to turn my passion for technology into something meaningful, so I decided to lean into it and keep creating."
That moment gave him direction and showed him there was a real space for his voice.
The Turning Point
There was one video that made everything feel real for Shevon.
"It was my 'iPhone 13 Mini - Real Day In The Life Review (Battery & Camera Test)' video. That piece really felt like a turning point because it showcased my authentic approach to tech reviews. Showing how devices actually perform in real-world scenarios rather than just specs and features. The response from viewers was incredible, and it validated that my perspective and style resonated with people. That's when I knew I was onto something special."
This video represented exactly how he wanted to tell stories.

Building His Community
Over time, Shevon has built a community that connects with his personality, his transparency, and his steady growth. His audience has watched him evolve, improve his craft, and refine his content while staying true to who he is. His platform reflects his values and the trust he has built with the people who support him.
His View on Character Defamation
When asked about character defamation, Shevon gives a straightforward answer drawn from real experience. "Character defamation to me is when you have people who have like a misinterpretation of who you really are and try to spread false information or paint a picture of a person that's not really you and sometimes you can’t really get to defend yourself of false accusations so other people try to do that to tear you down, i feel like, yeah." For Shevon, the goal is to stay grounded and remain focused on the work.
Advice for Young Creators
As more young creators look up to him, Shevon offers practical advice based on his own journey.
"One thing I wish somebody told me when I was starting out my YouTube channel is for one, don't really chase ‘Perfection’ enjoy the process, enjoy the journey, make mistakes, and eventually you learn from them and that's what really builds that character development and finding yourself and finding your own style, and how you go about creating content. Don’t really watch too much of your competitors or whoever is within your niche. The best way to grow is just off of what you're passionate about. Don't try to seek too much validation from your friends. Some of the biggest supporters are from people that you don't know, so keep posting your content, don't get discouraged or anything like that, just keep pushing, and eventually you'll end up where you want to be."
His message is rooted in patience, learning, and staying focused on what matters.
The Next Step in His Journey
For Shevon, this moment in his career represents progress and steady growth. As he continues developing his craft, he is focused on expanding creatively, taking on new challenges, and building projects that align with who he is and what he values. He approaches each step with the same mindset that has guided him from the beginning: move with purpose, stay consistent, and trust the process.
